Windshield
wipers….Kevlar…..disposable diapers….the concept of software &
operating systems…..the discovery that X & Y chromosomes determine
gender. What do these inspirations have in common? They are a tiny
fraction of the ideas and inventions of
women! The theme for this year’s National Women’s History Month is
“Women Inspiring Innovation Through Imagination”, for the recognition of
women who have been pioneers in the areas of STEM (science, technology,
engineering and math). There are so many – names you recognize and
names you may want to research -- Rachel Carson, Marion Donovan, Marie
Curie, Ada Lovelace, Dian Fossey, Virginia Apgar, Grace Hopper and
hundreds more.
